About the Course

The Certificate in Broadcast Journalism is  
designed to provide participants with an  
understanding of all aspects of media from
broadcast journalism to reporting for
newspapers. This ten week intensive foundation
course prepares you for entering the exciting
world of media and provides you with the
knowledge for further study in this growing area.
 
It provides you with the necessary knowledge of
how to write and edit your own scripts for Radio
& Television. Most importantly, you examine the
and skills required to report news to the
newspapers. Ideally suited for individuals who
want to enter the world of media and journalism.
 
Course Aims & Objectives
The Certificate in Broadcast Journalism is especially suited to newcomers to the world
of media who wish to gain a thorough understanding of the many principles that govern
television, radio and print production. The aim of the course is to provide you with the
necessary knowledge and practical skills to focus on a specific area of media as a
career path. The CMI has a number of experienced qualified Media lecturers who have
worked with RTE, the BBC and the major national newspapers. The course will provide
you with unique insights into the journalism profession.
 
It is essential that those wishing to undertake the programme are able to communicate
in both written and spoken English. This course leads to a Diploma in Journalism &

Methodology
The course is delivered through lectures, workshops, exercises and home assignments. Writing and editing scripts as well as news stories, makes this a highly rewarding and practical course.

Duration and Cost
The Certificate in Broadcast Journalism is a ten week course and costs 750 Euro. Exam fees are 200 euro extra.
