The Advanced Diploma in Event Management is the best course of its kind currently available in Ireland. The course offers double accreditation which means successful graduates receive 2 awards, a national FETAC Component level 6 award in Event Management and an international ICM Advanced Diploma in Event Management. The ICM - Institute of Commercial Management (UK) award is recognised in over 120 countries worldwide. The Advanced Diploma in Event Management course will provide you with the skills required to manage simple and complex events. The event manager's job involves arranging every aspect of an event from budgeting, finance, sponsorship, marketing, managing to organising and co-ordinating all the elements that will make an event memorable and successful.

These areas are : Financial Management of Events, Risk Management essential to all events and Event Project Management which is the project worldview required to streamline an event. Course Aims
To provide you with:
• A comprehensive understanding of how to sell and put together an Event Package
• Acquire different approaches to promote an event using Marketing, Sponsorship & PR
• Effective HR Management of Events, from personnel to contractors
• Knowledge of event operations including Risk & Project Management & Event Evaluation,
Organisation and production of a range of indoor and outdoor events including festivals, weddings, personal events, trade exhibitions and conferences
• Knowledge of how the event business works and tools to start your own event business
• Acquire unique Project Management tools, business skills and Risk Assessment techniques to enhance your event.

Event Risk Management module and the Event Business module has been included due to requests from event companies that students from other colleges were not up to speed on these key areas.
The fee for this programme is €2,450. The fee includes all tuition, registration, assessment and online notes.
Applicants are required to pay a minimum deposit of €300 to secure a place on the programme. The balance of fees are due on or before programme commencement. Applicants that are unemployed or work part-time may avail of a two part installment plan. Terms & Conditions apply.

Fiona Mullin: Event Management Lecturer
Fiona currently works as Head of Event Sales for a prestigious 5 star Hotel Resort outside Dublin. She ran the Event Sales team for 8 years and has organized various types of events. Fiona has worked in the Hospitality industry in Ireland for over 15 years. She has completed 2 degrees 1 in Hotel and Catering Management and 1 in Business Tourism and also has a Masters in Strategic Hospitality Management
Caroline Laura Stephens
Caroline Stephens lectures in PR, Communications and Events at the CMI. She runs her own Communications company. Caroline was previously Head of Dell’s Consumer Public Relations Division for Europe, and managed their Small Business Communications programme for the region. With over 15 years experience with the multinational in the technology arena, Caroline held a wide variety of management roles with responsibility for European, UK and Irish programmes, which also included agency management for events and PR. In addition, large scale events planning such as major European product launches to media, as well as event planning responsibility for all Michael Dell visits to the country, were under her remit. Caroline’s experience also covers the public sector, internal communications and the corporate sector . She has extensive media training experience.
Jill Gibson: Public Relations and Event Management Lecturer
Jill has an in depth knowledge of the event management business and has vast experience in planning, production and execution of large and small scale events Jill now runs her own business in Dublin. Her Event Company specialises in bespoke event management and offers a complete professional service to the highest standard for clients. For past three years, Jill lectures on the Event Management and Public Relations for CMI. She has Diploma in Public relations and has over 20 years experience in Dublin’s top PR consultancies and event companies
Eligibility:
This course is open to people from any educational background, age 18+ and with different levels of work experience. If you are anxious about your eligibility, please contact CMI and a representative will be more than happy to direct you to the right course. Students can start with the Advanced Diploma and do not need to commence with the Diploma.
What is the next step?
Progression
Successful graduates will hold the title Adv.Dip.EM after their name. Students can progress on to complete a Degree in Business, Project & Event management or pursue a Masters in Event Management. Careers open to graduates include: event organiser, event manager, project manager, festival organiser, wedding planner, health and safety events official, arts and community events volunteer.
