Course Overview
The HR Development Advanced Diploma is an impressive post graduate one year course designed for those with a keen interest in human resource development, training and personnel management. The diversity of skills and knowledge gained form this course will benefit you both personally and professionally in the years to come. The Advanced Diploma in HR development will open a whole new world of HR related topics to you and is open to people with no experience in HR and is designed to provide you with the vital HR knowledge and skills so necessary to help organisations survive.
Many former graduates are now Human Resource Managers, HR Business Partners or HR consultants for some of the leading national and international organisations in Ireland and abroad. During the course you will learn how to manage performance, deal with discipline and dismissal issues, develop competencies that enhance individual and organisational performance, understand contract and business law, learn the tools of recruitment and selection, and write staff training plans.
A new practical module putting HR into practice entitled HR Business Communications involves attending workshops on 4 Saturday mornings. You will learning the practical skill of interviewing and receiving 360 degree feedback.
The HR Management & Development Advanced Diploma course allows you to cover the current difficult industrial/ employee relations landscape which is set to dominate the HR agenda in the coming years. On successful completion you will understand the benefits of effective human resource strategies and will be able to implement new approaches to increase individual and organisational performance.
CIPD - Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development
All CMI students participating in this HR Management course can become affiliate members of the CIPD – Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. CMI students are encouraged to become affiliate members of this global body representing HR professionals. Students can gain membership both during and post completion of the HR course. Fees
The total course cost is 2,450 euro and includes cost of exam fees .
Course fee includes online notes. The fee is payable in advance of course commencement. Please note places are limited and online booking must be submitted by the deadline date.

Your place on the course is 100% confirmed within 48 hours of receipt of online booking/payment.
All course fees are payable in advance and the balance of payment is required before or on start date of course.
Cash, Cheques, Bank transfer is also accepted as alternative means of payment, in which case you must inform CMI admissions in advance.

Instalment plans: Instalment plans are offered for unemployed and part-time workers to be agreed with admissions prior to course commencement A. Pay 300 deposit B. 50% of fee by start date of course. C. Balance of fee within 8 weeks.
Sponsorship: Students must still pay a deposit of 300euro to secure their place irrespective of whether they are being sponsored by an employer or other body. Once payment is received in full for the course by this sponsor, the student will receive a 300euro deposit refund.

Michelle Flannelly: HR Management Lecturer
Michelle Flannelly has worked for the world’s top companies including HP Ireland and across diverse industries. Michelle now runs her own HR consultancy practice working in partnership with clients across key HR issues including; Workforce Planning, Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, Diversity, Training, Employee Relations, Organisation Change and Restructuring. Michelle is a ‘Chartered Fellow’ of the CIPD and has extensive HR operational and consultancy expertise, of almost 20 years.
Fiona Buckley Employee Relations lecturer
Fiona has several years experience in HR and recruitment and has presented on TV3 in relation to career and HR advice..
Kira Byrne: Business & Contract Law Lecturer
Kira graduated from UCD with a Bachelor of Business & Legal Studies in 1995 and from the NCIR with a Diploma in Personnel Management in 1998. She was called to the Bar in 2002 and has practised as a barrister for the past 8 years. Prior to this she worked in the Pensions Industry with Irish Life plc and Coyle Hamilton Willis (formerly Coyle Hamilton). She has lectured with the Institute of Technology Tallaght, Bray VEC and tutored at the Law Society. She has been lecturing with CMI for three years.
John Hoey M.S.c CIPD: Business Management & Admin lecturer
John Hoey (M.S.c. CIPD) lectures with CMI in Business and Management and has over 20 years industry experience in financial , manufacturing and retail sectors. John specialises in knowledge management, employee development and business change and is currently Knowledge Manager for a leading Technology company in Dublin. John also speaks at seminars on the topic of Knowledge Management. He holds a Masters in Strategy from University of Strathchlyde
Entry Requirements
Applicants should note that the following entrance qualifications are recommended for those wishing to undertake this programme:
- The ICM Diploma in Business Studies at grades A, B or C (or an equivalent level qualification).
- A first degree.
- A higher National Diploma in Business Studies.
Applicants over the age of 21 who do not hold one of the required entrance qualifications may register for the programme providing they have been in full-time employment for a minimum of three years and hold a senior supervisory or managerial position.
Progression
Successful graduates will hold the title Adv.Dip.HRD. after their name. Students can progress on to complete a Masters Degree in HR or related area. This course is open to people who have no degree background but who can demonstrate the necessary experience. Career options are wide and varied include: HR Manager, HR Business Partner, HR Executive & Assistant, Trainer & Coach, Recruitment executive.
