The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) offers qualifications recognised by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to level 8 -10.

The NEBOSH Environmental Diploma has been designed to be at the same level as the NEBOSH National Diploma which is rated at level 10 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The Irish awarding bodies and qualifications authorities and the UK awarding and qualifications regulatory bodies undertook an exercise to facilitate the comparison of qualifications in the qualifications framework in the UK and Ireland. The document, Qualifications can cross boundaries - a rough guide to comparing qualifications in the UK and Ireland was published, and compares SCQF Level 10 to Level 8 on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications. In addition there is a recently launched European-wide website comparison, which supports this comparison of different national education systems.

The NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management is set at level 10 under the Scottish SCQF Framework (NQF) and is similar to a Level 8 (Honours Bachelor Degree, Higher Diploma) on the NQAI, National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland.

Holders of this qualification may use the designatory letters EnvDipNEBOSH after their name. In addition holders of the Environmental Management Diploma are eligible for Associate Membership of IIRSM, International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. Graduates of the Diploma are also eligible for Associate Membership of the prestgious Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
