Course Overview
Project professionals are seeing an increased demand for Agile practices in a variety of industries and organisations, Organisations rely on project practitioners to apply a diversity of methods to their project management. Agile is a technique increasingly used for managing successful projects and looks set to grow as employers seek Agile certification amongst their staff. This course is ideally suited to PM practitioners who are seeking to implement Agile practices of project management, demonstrate, versatility in both Waterfall and Agile techniques.
Software development teams have been using techniques such as Scrum, XP (eXtreme Programming), Lean and others for several years . Agile Project Management goes beyond these techniques to bring innovation, responsiveness and quality to projects across a range of industries. The Agile Project Management qualification aims to address the needs of those working in a project-focused environment who want to be Agile.
This certification provides the ability to deliver Agile Projects in organizations requiring standards, rigour and visibility around Project Management, while at the same time enabling the fast pace, change and empowerment provided by Agile. The training is delivered by highly experienced project management lecturers, with participation by the delegates being integral to the learning process
Course Aims
Once you pass the exam, you are permitted to hold the PMI ACP letters after your name, while certified. Continuing Certification is in cycles of three years and to maintain it, 30PDU’s must be completed related to Agile.

The PMI – Project Management Agile Practitioner Certification course is 14 weeks in duration. The course cost is 1,750euro which is made payable to CMI.
Fee excludes the PMI test fee . Students pay directly to PMI – Project Mgmt Institute (USA) a test fee of 415euro for non-members a few weeks into the course

All CMI lecturing staff are experts in their field with extensive academic qualifications and relevant work experience. Throughout your studies with CMI practical guidance will be offered by your lecturer to ensure that learning is converted to practice.
Ciaran Kennedy: Computers & Project Management Lecturer
Ciaran Kennedy’s academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) Computing Science from University of Ulster and MSc Technology Management, Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin. As a Prince 2 Practitioner and Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Ciaran specialises in providing Agile Project Management services and has over 12 years of experience working in IT for a number of leading online companies delivering projects and managing programs at the PMO level. Ciaran operates his own Agile Services Company called Chillistore Technologies Ltd, and is the founder of Scrum Ireland an online social network that enables project professionals interested in Scrum and Agile to connect and network together. Ciaran has recently joined CMI as a part time lecturer in Computers and Project Management and is very excited about the institute, working with the students and being part of the lecturing team.

Bernard Hamill PMP, MgPCertified. Project Manager for a leading international company in Dublin. Bernard lectures on PMP & CAPM Certification for CMI for the past 2 years. He is an expert on PMI certification and his students consistently achieve the highest results in Ireland.
PMI-ACP exam
To earn the PMI-ACP certification, you must meet the experience and education requirements as set out below, and pass the PMI-ACP 3-hour exam, which is based on 120- multiple-choice questions .
Eligibility: Applicants must have all of the following:
• Secondary Leaving cert education
• 1 year working in a project team or related field
• 8 months in a team using Agile + 1 year practical PM experience
• 21 Hours of Agile training *
* CMI is a PMI Recognised Education provider (REP) who can provide you with evidence during the course that you completed 21 hours of Agile training. The CMI lecturer will assist you in completing the online application in the early part of the course.

This is a new course only recently piloted by PMI. Bookings are now been taken for the first intake of students for the course starting Tuesday 7 February 2012.
