Course Overview
The Diploma in Retail Management is designed to provide newcomers to retail management with the knowledge and expertise to run an effective and profitable retail store. This involves understanding the buying process, understanding consumer buyer behaviour, supply chain
management, negotiation and management of teams effectively. It is these key areas which will help develop apprentice retail managers with the knowledge and skills to reach their potential in this dynamic and fast paced profession. The programme is taught by retail practitioners and qualified lecturers with years of experience in retail management.
Course Aims
After completion, participants will be able to integrate theory and practice and better manage various retail functions and operations such as store operations, merchandising, marketing, advertising and promotions, customer relations, managing people, inventory control, finance, and supply chain; as well as grow the business.
Students should be able to:
• Critically evaluate different approaches to retail buying and merchandising.
• Analyse Financial Statements
• Understand operational planning and organizational objectives
• Negotiate a work plan/project with team members
• Devise Selling & Marketing Strategies
• Demonstrate skills such as managing teams

The total cost of the course is 1,800 euro.The fee includes all tuition, registration, assesement and online notes.
Applicants are required to pay a minimum deposit of €300 to secure a place on the programme. The balance of fees are due on or before programme commencement. Applicants that are unemployed or work part-time may avail of a two part installment plan. Terms & Conditions apply.

Michelle Flannelly has worked for the world’s top companies and in diverse industries. Michelle now runs her own HR consultancy practice working in partnership with clients across key HR issues including; Workforce Planning, Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, Diversity, Training, Employee Relations, Organisation Change and Restructuring. Michelle is a ‘Chartered Fellow’ of the CIPD and has extensive HR operational and consultancy expertise, of almost 20 years.
John Hoey M.S.c CIPD: Strategic Management & Business lecturer

Fiona Whelan BA, MMI
Currently lectures for CMI, and has over 20 years experience in Marketing, planning and strategy. She runs her own marketing consultancy, Blue Shoes Marketing.

Shane Mooney BA,MBA: Retail Sales & Marketing
Shane holds an MBA in Marketing from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and is a graduate member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland. He has extensive Sales Management, Key Account Management and Project Management experience having worked in these roles for over 15 years in the financial services sector. He is a qualified financial advisor and provides Ses, Marketing and Business Consultancy Services to the SME sector. He also mentors and tutors with Co Meath VEC. Shane lectures for CMI in sales and sales management and has also lectured in project management, career information, work preparation and various marketing and business disciplines
Am I eligible ?
This course is open to people with above educational backgrounds and with various levels of work experience. Due to the broad nature of the programme the course is not limited to an applicant from one industry background. Any level 8 Higher Diploma or BA/BSc student will be eligible. Students who have more 8 years work experience in business can apply based on their experience. What are my option after this course?
Yes this course is an entry level diploma and will allow you to progress to any of our range of management and business graduate and post graduate courses.
Progression
Successful graduates will hold the title Dip.RM after their name. Students can progress on to complete a Degree in Business or Management or Retail Management . Graduates of the course may pursue careers in business, management, recruitment, business coaching, counselling or psychology.
