Who are IWFM and what do they stand for?

IWFM stands for the Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management (IWFM) which is a global body established for the advancement of workplace and facilities professionals. The IWFM was established in 2018 and was previously known for over 25 years as the BIFM, British Institute of Facilities Management.

They exist to promote the facilities profession and a worldwide community to share best practice through offering facilities management qualifications through approved partners such as CMI Ireland.

Are IWFM qualifications recognised?

IWFM, and its’ qualifications, are regulated by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) – the body responsible for regulating qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.

The level of IWFM qualifications are comparable to:  Level 5 and Level 6 in the Republic of Ireland (NFQ IE), and Level 5 and 6 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

It is a wide and varied role, but includes managing the soft and hard services of the building environment: cleaning, security, building maintenance, environmental services, and reception and parking.

The course is medium difficulty. There is no exams only assignments which involve research and completing tasks.
