Another successful Pregnancy And Baby Fair has just finished gracing the surroundings of the RDS. This has grown to be one of Ireland’s most popular events and sees thousands of families walk through the doors. With the promise of some free samples and exhibitions of all the latest innovations in baby care, this is a great day for families who have small children or indeed families expecting a baby.

The Pregnancy and Baby Fair is Ireland’s exclusive event in all things pregnancy and baby. It also happens to be the idea of two Dublin mothers. Jennifer Straw and Claire Finnan are the owners of Huggy Bloom which is the company that runs the event. Jennifer is said to have come up with the idea of the event when she was pregnant with her first baby. With help from Claire and some Dragons from a well-known TV show she made her idea a reality, and the rest is history.

The event has a lot of family friendly touches such as designates feeding and changing areas. It is a place to cater for families with young children and these facilities make all the difference. It is the reason why people continue to attend the event year after year.

The event comprises of hundreds of stands which house various baby brands and products. One can purchase anything from a trend baby bag and cloth nappies right down to entire travel systems, cribs and car seats. Large brands such as Supervalu and Mothercare showcase a large selection of items and there are a huge number of smaller start-up companies. It is rare to see so many large and small brands in the one room. United by the one constant given – pregnancy. This event survives on the fact that there will always be huge numbers of pregnant women in Ireland at any one time. For this reason it attracts a huge audience and is a great success.

Aside from brand and product exhibitors the event also includes a stage which involves various speeches and talks throughout the two day event. Lactation Consultants answer questions about breastfeeding while talks on sleep, car safety and baby swimming occur also. This year’s stage was sponsored by Boots.

With huge branded Sponsors such as SMA, Tommee Tippee and Supervalu it is not surprising that this event is such a success.

Jennifer’s dream was to attend an event where she could see, test and try out the latest and safest baby products all under one roof. She made that dream a reality and it has come to be one of Ireland’s most successful events.
