The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management is awarded by OTHM qualifications and is recognised to Level 7 (England) which is broadly comparable to a Level 9 post graduate level (Ireland). OTHM qualifications (England) is an awarding organisation recognised by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

This programme is IOSH accredited and IOSH is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners, which ensures you achieve the highest professional standards.
Graduates of this programme can apply for 'CertIOSH'. This category is for those in a more middle to senior health and safety role who are working towards the goal of Chartered status. Entry Criteria
● A minimum of a Level 6 qualification such as the level 6 OTHM Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent Level 6 qualification; OR
● An honours degree (2.2) with relevant knowledge and experience in the occupational health and safety sector
● Learners must be 21 years or older at the beginning of the course.
English Requirements
Non-native English speakers who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English, must demonstrate capability in English equivalent to the levels below;
*Supporting certified proof of past qualifications and work-related experience CV is required to be attached to application booking plus English level competency (if applicable). Note Qualifications completed through English will also be accepted.

Admissions will check your eligibility (based on qualifications and past work experience). If you do not satisfy the entry criteria, we would recommend the level 6 OTHM Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or the Level 6 OTHM Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety as the alternative route to do this Higher Diploma in Health and Safety.
Progression
Successful Graduates of this OTHM level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety management (comparable to post graduate diploma level 9 in Ireland) can apply to a range of Masters degrees with reputable universities. Currently graduates can apply to do a Master’s (MSc) in Safety, Health and Environment with the University of Greenwich. Students will only have to complete 90 credits in one year, 30 credits of two online taught modules plus a 60 credit dissertation.

Paul Purcell is a highly experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor with several years’ specialist experience across refinery, construction, and industrial environments, currently working with a major Oil Refinery. He holds an MSc in Occupational Health and brings a strong background in safety leadership, auditing, training delivery, and accident investigation, supported by earlier careers in engineering. Paul is a certified IOSH member and is recognised for promoting positive safety culture, compliance, and workforce wellbeing. Paul teaches on the level 3 Technical Certificate in OH&S and level 7 Dip in OH&S Management with CMI.
David Coyne is an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) professional with over 20 years of experience in advisory and management roles across the FMCG, construction, and facilities management industries. He holds an MSc in Environmental Health and Safety Management and a NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (accredited by the University of Warwick).
David has worked internationally across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, supporting organizations accredited to ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001), ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 5001. Passionate about EHS and mentoring others, he is committed to fostering strong safety cultures and empowering professionals with industry-leading knowledge. As a certified instructor in Manual Handling, AED/CPR, First Aid (PHECC), and IOSH Managing Safely, he actively contributes to shaping safer, more efficient workplaces through expert training and leadership. He teaches units on the Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management with CMI Ireland.
Frank has over 30 years experience as a health and safety practitioner. He is a Chartered Member of IOSH and has gained extensive health, safety and environmental experience and knowledge from working in Ireland, UK and mainland Europe with several multi-disciplined organisations across many diverse sectors including construction, property, facilities and manufacturing. He currently teaches unit 7 of the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with CMI.
Deirdre has a B.Sc. in Health and Safety Systems and a M.Sc. in Environmental Health along with 14 years experience in environmental, health and safety advisory and management roles. She has experience in various industries including construction, facilities management and hospitality. She has gained this experience in Ireland, the UK and Australia working within organisations accredited to ISO 45001 (previously OHSAS 18001), ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. Deirdre is passionate about developing others knowledge and skills in relation to workplace environmental, health and safety topics having also completed QQI Level 6 Training Needs Analysis and Design and QQI Level 6 Training Delivery and Evaluation.
