    Health and Safety Certificate course

    The Occupational Health and Safety Technical Certificate course (Tech. Cert. OHS) is an excellent foundation course for those starting a career in health and safety. Designed for those with little or no health and safety experience, the course covers the essential technical skills and knowledge required to embrace a career in health and safety. 

    Successful completion will mean you satisfy the entry requirements for the higher Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (broadly equivalent to level 7 Ireland).

    The Technical Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety course enables you to gain an understanding of health and safety practices in a working environment. It provides an insight into how to manage workplace issues and covers the areas you would encounter in a health and safety role.

    LEVEL: The Technical Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is accredited to level 3 (England) which is broadly equivalent to level 5 (Republic of Ireland) and is awarded by OTHM qualifications. OTHM are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

    IOSH: Graduates of this Certificate are eligible to apply for  'TechIOSH' Technical membership of IOSH, Institute of Occupational Health & Safety.

    Progression: Students who successfully complete the level 3, can progress to the IOSH approved Level 6 Certificate and Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.

    How do I book

    Simply complete the online booking form .

    Pay a minimum deposit of €300 to secure a place and the balance of fees are due 2 weeks before programme commencement.

    Your place on the course is confirmed within 2-3 days of receipt of online booking/payment.

    Online Bookings and payments are subject to CMI Terms & Conditions.

     Students must still pay a deposit of 300 euro to secure their place irrespective of whether they are being sponsored by an employer or other body. 

    Once payment is received in full for the course by the sponsor, the student will receive a 300euro deposit refund.

Brian Fitzgerald
Brian is the Quality Health Safety and Environmental Manager with CBRE/Johnson Controls in Dublin and ensures QHSE compliance across CBRE clients throughout Ireland. He previously held senior positions with Veolia FM sites. HE has an MSc in Environmental Health & Safety Management and Post Grad in Applied Leadership. He is a Chartered member of IOSH and Certified Safety Professional and Lead auditor. He lectures on Unit 3 and 4 on the level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety with CMI.

Rachel Beirne: Occupational Health & Safety

Rachel began her career in food safety as a food safety manager and consultant. She then moved into the role of HSEQ Auditor, auditing contract catering, cleaning and facility sites against ISO 9001, 14001 and OSHAS 18001. In 2017 she took on the role of HSEQ manager for a large contract catering company where she heads up their strategic HSEQ planning as well as ensuring compliance and maintaining the company’s ISO standards across their 150+ sites. 

She has a BSc & MSc in Environmental Health and safety Management, as well as 14 years industry experience. She is an affiliated member of the Irish Institute of Training and Development (IITD) and a graduate member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Rachel teaches unit 1& 2 Certificate and Diploma in Health & Safety.
