    The Purchasing and Procurement Certificate course is an excellent foundation and entry level course for individuals with no prior experience in procurement. This course is ideal for buyers and anyone interested in developing a successful career in the field of procurement.  

    This aim of the Purchasing and Procurement QQI level 6 Certificate course is to provide you with the basic knowledge, skills and competence to effectively manage the procurement function of any large or small organisation.

    Working in Procurement involves sourcing reliable suppliers across the globe and maintaining continuity of supply at the right price. You will be able to distinguish between the procurement and purchasing functions and logistics aspect of different types of public and private sector organisations.


    The course allows you direct entry into the Chartered level 6 CIPS Diploma in Procurement & Supply. If you have some work related experience, you can skip the Certificate and apply directly to the CIPS Diploma.

    The Certificate course in Purchasing & Procurement covers the following key foundation areas:

    1. Characteristics of the procurement function
    2. The role of purchasing and procurement in an organization to include logistics and legal requirements
    3. Procurement in different sectors including public and private, in terms of tendering processes, specifications, and eprocurement
    4. The difference between rationalisation and development roles in purchasing
    5. The importance of green procurement with respect to sources of materials, waste management and product life cycle and disposal
    6. The key components of a contract to include the rationale for termination of agreements
    7. The  classification system to rank procurement items in order of importance
    8. Tactical and strategic sourcing
    9. Relevant criteria for assessment of suppliers
    10. Negotiate effectively during all stages of procurement giving due consideration to ethical practices.

    Classroom course is € 1150.00

    Applicants are required to pay a minimum deposit of €300 to secure a place on the programme. The balance of fees are due on or before programme commencement.

Michael is working in Financial Services as a Lead Category Manager-Professional Services. His previous work experience in Procurement and Supply Chain has been experienced across multiple industries including construction, retail, telecommunications and computer manufacturing. He holds an MSc Strategic Procurement from the University of South Wales, and is a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM). He holds previous qualifications from the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (IIPMM), American Production and Inventory Control Society, and the Irish Exporters Association,(MIFT (Grad). He teaches the QQI level 6 Cert in Procurement and Purchasing with CMI.
