Meet our team

 Mr John O'Toole, Managing Director
Founder and Managing director of CMI since 2004, previously worked in third level institutions and international training organisations. Is educated to Honours Degree in Philosophy from NUI and an Masters Degree in PR with TU Dublin. Has completed numerous further and higher programmes in Education, Management and Training, E-learning and Moodle. Is a member of Aontas and participates in the National forum for Teaching and Learning events. 


Thomas Mallon Mr Thomas Mallon, Academic Director
Focused on quality assurance and enhancement having previously held positions with Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Griffith College Dublin, City & Guilds (quality and excellence manager) , and National college of Ireland (school manager). Thomas is currently Academic Director with CMI since November 2019, with responsibility for Academic Management and Quality Assurance Enhancement, project lead for new programme validations, governance and academic risk management.


Sandra Duff Ms Sandra Duff, Registrations & Accounts Executive
Has worked as Accounts executive with CMI since 2006 and responsible for new learner registrations.


GRaham MooreMr Graham Moore, Admissions Officer
Holds a Hons Degree in Business Management, and is primarily responsible for new learner admissions and learner support.



Dr Thomas Connolly Dr Thomas Connolly,  Education Officer
Holds a Doctorate from NUI Maynooth, and is responsible for academic operations and supports learners, teachers and the Moodle e-learning environment. He has recently completed a H.Dip. in Computer Science and is MEC Moodle education certified and facilitates teacher workshops. Is an active participant and facilitator in the National forum for Teaching and Learning.

Dr Cormac Doran Dr Cormac Doran, External Chair of Academic Board for HE
Dr Cormac Doran is the Assistant Academic Secretary with responsibility for Graduate Education at Trinity College Dublin. His main responsibility is to reform and renew all of Trinity’s Postgraduate Education while work at their Graduate Studies Office. He has led research between Ireland and Canada that specialises in Higher education research, policy and practice. He chairs the higher education Academic Board at CMI .


Caroline McKenna Caroline McKenna-Cooper, External Chair of Academic Board - FE
Director of Adult Education within CDETB and Masters Graduate from NUIM. Has worked as an External Authenticator since 1998 with FETAC and now QQI across a range of Further and Higher Education providers both public and private across Ireland. She devised modules for the first FETAC level 6 pilot programme in Ireland in Ballyfermot College of Further Education. Focused and aware of quality assurance, Caroline brings valuable insight to CMI and is driven by a passion to facilitate Staff Development, Educational Leadership and fair transparent assessment processes to Learners. She chairs the further education Academic Board at CMI. .

Mr Shane Downer Mr Shane Downer, External QA adviser ,  
Shane Downer is a vastly experienced change specialist and educator.  Passionate about learning, he has designed and lead training projects across Europe, in the finance, health and education sectors.  Working with a leading Public Education body he was instrumental in the design and development of initiatives such as SkillVEC and SUSI, Ireland’s National Student Grants Authority. As an educator, he provides external quality assurance support to a number of education providers.  Shane holds an MBA from Trinity College Dublin. He provides consultancy service and external advice to CMI.
