Mr John O'Toole, Managing Director

John O’Toole is the Founder and Managing Director of CMI, established in 2004. He has extensive experience in education and training, having previously worked in third-level institutions and international training organisations, with expertise in programme management, quality assurance, learner development, and educational leadership.

John holds an Honours Degree in Philosophy from the National University of Ireland and a Master’s Degree in Public Relations from TU Dublin. He has also completed a range of further and higher education programmes, including Level 9 studies in Educational Leadership and Management, along with specialist qualifications in e-learning, Moodle development, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Over the past two decades, he has led the growth of CMI and is committed to promoting excellence in professional education, digital learning, and learner-centred teaching. John is an active member of AONTAS and regularly participates in National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education events, supporting continuous improvement and lifelong learning across the education sector.

Mr Thomas Mallon, Academic Director

Focused on quality assurance and enhancement having previously held positions with Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Griffith College Dublin, City & Guilds (quality and excellence manager) , and National college of Ireland (school manager). Thomas is currently Academic Director with CMI since November 2019, with responsibility for Academic Management and Quality Assurance Enhancement, project lead for new programme validations, governance and academic risk management. He manages and monitors CIPD, IWFM and QQI programmes.

Ms Sandra Duff, Registrations & Accounts Executive

Sandra Duff has been a valued member of the CMI team since 2006, serving as Accounts Executive and playing a key role in the efficient administration of learner and financial services.

Sandra is responsible for managing the organisation’s accounts processes, including learner fees, invoicing, and financial administration. She also oversees new learner registrations and examination bookings, ensuring that students are enrolled correctly and supported throughout their qualification journey.

With nearly two decades of experience at CMI, Sandra has developed extensive knowledge of the Institute’s programmes, systems, and learner support processes. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to providing a high standard of service help ensure a smooth and positive experience for both learners and staff.

Mr Graham Moore, Admissions Officer

Graham Moore holds an Honours Degree in Business Management and serves as Admissions Officer at CMI. He is primarily responsible for managing new learner applications, enrolment processes, and providing ongoing support to prospective and current learners throughout their educational journey.

Graham works closely with applicants to ensure a smooth admissions experience, offering guidance on programme selection, entry requirements, registration procedures, and learner services. His strong customer-focused approach, organisational skills, and commitment to learner success help ensure that every student receives professional and responsive support from initial enquiry through to programme commencement.

Alwynne Cleary , Programme Manager

Ms Alwynne Cleary is Health & Safety Programme Manager at CMI. In this role, she  supports the development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of our Health & Safety programmes, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and learner achievement.

Alwynne holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Health and an M.Sc. in Biomedical Science. She brings over 15 years’ experience in Health & Safety advisory and management roles across construction, manufacturing, food processing, facilities management, logistics, and the oil and gas sector in Ireland, the UK, and Australia. 

Alongside her industry experience, she has developed a strong commitment to supporting learners and promoting professional development, making her ideally placed to lead and support CMI’s Health & Safety programmes and teaching team. She has completed QQI Level 6 qualifications in Training Needs Analysis and Design and Training Delivery and Evaluation, further strengthening her expertise in education and training.
