It is not very often that a Vice President comes to town to announce 150 jobs, but that is exactly what happened last night at CMI College.
Mr James Gowen, Vice President of Verizon Services Ireland, arrived at CMI College with a team of HR and Recruitment personnel to announce their target of recruiting up to 150 employees by August 2015. He wished to talk directly to CMI students who are pursuing CIPS Procurement & Supply qualifications as they have the may have the right experience and qualifications to really add value to Verizon.
Speaking to the class James said, ‘You are advancing your knowledge in areas such as procurement, purchasing, sourcing, sustainability and contract management and it is in these areas we need to hire new staff. An interest or experience in the technology sector is an advantage but not a prerequisite. So far we already have 2 students from the Communications and Management institute attending interviews over the next few days and we hope to receive further applications over the coming weeks to fill these important roles at Verizon’.
