Celine Taaffe, has successfully completed three years of part time study at CMI and has been awarded a CIPS – CMI Outstanding Achievement Award. Having completed three years of part time study, Celine was delighted to have successfully completed all three qualifications and modules to receive the prestigious Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply. Read more about what she had to say….

Celine Taaffe works with Aviva Ireland and remarkably her day to day role does not involve procurement. She works in front line management of the customer services team and of late has moved to more back end operations. Her role is multi-faceted and involves business operations, customer services, contract management and supplier relations.

As she deals with procurement people daily, she felt she would be in a position to negotiate better, if she pursued the CIPS suite of qualifications. Aviva were very supportive of her studies throughout the three years, and going to class was her preferred choice of learning over distance.

According to Celine,” I really enjoyed the course and I felt in year 2, the modules were more work placed focused. I liked the case study exams and particularly loved the open book exams. I feel this is a better way to test people as it allows you to do your own research. Year 1 was the hardest as I had to get in to the study mode. It definitely gets easier after year 1 as I had a better idea of what it was all about.

I cant believe it is three years and this year I  finally got my MCIPS and that was nearly more  difficult to get than sitting an exam. My  colleagues in Aviva UK really encouraged me to  go for it and I appreciate their support as they  too had been through a similar course. I would  definitely recommend doing the CIPS  qualifications with CMI”.

Celine has no further plans to pursue another course in the coming year and wants to enjoy a well deserved break. Pictured above receiving special CMI – CIPS Outstanding achievement award and only third graduate in Ireland to receive this prestigious award.
