15.7 Million new Project Management roles Globally to 2020
It is forecasted that 15.7 million new project management roles will be created globally across seven project-intensive industries. Along with jobs growth, there will be a significant increase in the economic footprint of the profession. The project
management profession is projected to grow by $6.61 trillion annually over the next 5 years.
This enormous anticipated growth, along with higher-than average salaries, will make the next five years to 2020 an opportune time for professionals and job-seekers to build project management skills.
High demand for project-oriented professionals is reflected in both average salary and salary growth. Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential holders in the U.S. earned an average of 16 percent more (approximately US$14,500) and in Europe is an average 19% more than their non-credentialed peers.
High demand for project oriented professionals has risen faster-than-average salary growth. Currently, project-intensive industries that support the greatest number of project management roles are business services taking up the majority of project management jobs. IT, Telecommunications and Finance are typically the largest employers with Construction following a close 4th. Non
project-intensive industries such as healthcare are expected to lead the growth by 30%.
