The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety online course is awarded by OTHM qualifications which is recognised on the RQF Regulated qualifications framework to Level 6 (England) which is broadly comparable to Level 7- 8 (Ireland). OTHM qualifications (England) is an awarding organisation recognised by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). This is one of the few health and safety officer courses at level 7 -8 which is similar to the first year of a health and safety degree in Ireland.

Progression
Successful Graduates can progress to the OTHM level 7 Diploma in occupational health and safety management (comparable to post graduate diploma level 9 in Ireland). Successful graduates of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management can apply to a second year of a Master’s of Science (MSc) in Safety, Health and Environment with a university partner.

Applicants should demonstrate they have either a :
Technical Certificate in Health & Safety course completed with CMI OR
Completed a Health and Safety level 6 course OR
2 years work related experience OR
Hold a entry level qualification in :

Stephen has 10+ years’ experience in environmental health and safety in the high risk, fast paced pharmaceutical industry. He has a proven ability to deliver excellent safety standards in challenging highly regulated environments. Stephen has an MSc in Environmental Health and Safety, a Level 7 in Occupational Health and Safety, BA in Pharmaceutical Business Operations and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronic Systems and amongst other higher educational qualifications including ISO certifications. Stephen teaches on the the Tech Cert and Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety with CMI.
Lee is a passionate health and safety practitioner with over 15 years in the field. After completing a degree in Physical Geography and Environmental Science, he attended TU Dublin, undertaking a Masters degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management. He has worked in health and safety roles in both the private and public sector for several organisations.
Most recently he has held the role of Health and Safety Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland, within the Major Investigation Team, investigating and prosecuting fatal work place accidents. He currently teaches Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Term 1 of the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
Patrick Fields is a Senior Manager with over 30 years experience working in a wide range of sectors including Construction, Process Management, Emergency Services and general Civil and Public Services. He currently works as the Senior H&S Advisor in a large public service body, and has implemented and maintained accreditation to many ISO standards across many diverse portfolios including 45001, 9001, 14001 and 50001.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Higher Diploma in Health and Safety at Work, a Post Graduate Diploma in Fire Safety Practice and a Masters in Work and Organisational Behaviour. Paddy teaches units on the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with CMI.
Frank has over 30 years experience as a health and safety practitioner. He is a Chartered Member of IOSH and has gained extensive health, safety and environmental experience and knowledge from working in Ireland, UK and mainland Europe with several multi-disciplined organisations across many diverse sectors including construction, property, facilities and manufacturing. He currently teaches unit 7 of the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with CMI.
Anthony Rodgers holds a Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Occupational Safety and Health Management, an International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from CMI, and a Certificate in Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work. He has professional experience working in the public and private sectors including Manufacturing sectors (pharmaceutical and medical device), Construction, and the Fire Service.
Currently working as a Senior EHS engineer for a medical device manufacturing company, and has held prior positions as EHS Manager, EHS engineer, and 20 years in the Fire Service in positions as Fire-Fighter, and Fire Service Instructor. A demonstrated history of successfully implementing Safety Management Systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001). Anthony currently teaches on Unit 5 and Unit 6 on the Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety at CMI.
Deirdre has a B.Sc. in Health and Safety Systems and a M.Sc. in Environmental Health along with 14 years experience in environmental, health and safety advisory and management roles. She has experience in various industries including construction, facilities management and hospitality. She has gained this experience in Ireland, the UK and Australia working within organisations accredited to ISO 45001 (previously OHSAS 18001), ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. Deirdre is passionate about developing others knowledge and skills in relation to workplace environmental, health and safety topics having also completed QQI Level 6 Training Needs Analysis and Design and QQI Level 6 Training Delivery and Evaluation. She teaches unit 1 and 2 on the Certificate/ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety with CMI.
